Why the Basement?
Using your basement as part of your living quarters makes sense for several reasons. Basements are cooler during the summer months and warmer during the winter months than parts of your house that are above ground. Basements even dampen sound. Moreover, finishing your basement will certainly be less disruptive to your home and your family than building upon upper level floors.
How do you guarantee a completion date?
We provide a hard completion date based on past practices and timelines. The date of completion is met for the project or we deduct $35.00 per day for every day we go over. We work with the customer and keep them informed as to what stage of the construction process we are working, i.e., framing, plumbing, electrical, insulation, sheet rock, trim out, etc.
How do you work?
The customer contacts Paramount Basements to arrange an estimate. We schedule the consultation (usually within 1 week) and listen to what the customer wants. We take measurements and notes then return to our office to put the project to paper. The information passed on by the customer as well as our professional ideas are compiled to a drawing that depicts all the information. We put a detailed bid together which encompasses the drawings, bid, specific nomenclatures of materials and misc. information which will assist the customer in making a decision.
Are there hidden surprises and cost?
At the time of the bid a hard fixed price is presented to the customer. That cost does not change unless the customer request changes which were not addressed in the original package. We do not charge extra for minor items, such as adding an extra can light, receptacle, cable / phone drop.
How much do you charge per square foot?
There is really no way to provide a firm fixed price without getting the information from the customer. That would be like asking Ford how much do you charge per pound of car. There are many options which need to be addressed when completing the job such as crown moldings, upgraded trim work, solid wood 6 panel doors, wet bars, bathrooms, and so on. A typical basement to be used as an additional family room with a bathroom ranges from $20.00 to $35.00 per SF. With upgrades and additional items the prices can exceed $35.00 per SF.
Why is your price different from the other bids I received?
At Paramount Basements we only finish basements. We know the cost of basement finishing based on standard metrics and past job cost data. We suggest getting estimates from 2 to 3 other contractors and compare what you are getting. When comparing the cost you need to ensure the estimates will be covering the same type of work with the same type of materials. We only use 2x4 construction. All our lighting is a mixture of a can and sconce lights. We provide top quality materials and hardware with name brands, not cheap knock offs, that is why we can stand behind every job knowing we won’t need to make a call back to fix items that did not hold up to the intended use
Do you warrenty your work?
All work
completed by Paramount Basements is warranted in workmanship for 24 months from
completion. We make follow up visits prior to the expiration to ensure there is
nothing that needs to be addressed prior to falling out of warranty.
Yes. If you
decide you want something added we can make changes on site. We will advise you
of any cost changes that may occur and we will both come in agreement. We do not charge for change orders, however if
the item request incurs an additional charge such as materials or labor, we
will address that at the time of the request. You are guaranteed a fixed price
prior to the change being implemented.
I personally manage the entire project from start to finish. I, along with my
employees, do the framing, electrical, HVAC, insulation and trim out. I use 1
sub contractors for plumbing. This sub are specific to Paramount Basements; I
do not use anyone else, this way I know I can guarantee a finished job that
exceeds the customer’s expectation.
